who is vox-b?

Who?

vox-b is the brainchild and stage name of multi instrumentalist Jeff Bloom. Jeff lives in Riga, NY, an Upstate New York town halfway between Rochester and Buffalo on a farm perfectly situated for writing and recording music. The vox-b project came about after the pandemic started and dashed any short term hopes of creating music with a full band. Out of a necessity of having a creative outlet, Jeff started creating new music as well as re-recording and arranging music he has written for other projects.

While starting out his musical career as a vocalist (hence the vox part of vox-b), he has since branched out by picking up bass, then guitar, then drums, then matrix pad (Ableton Push 2), and then keyboard. While not a master of any instrument, he knows enough to coax music out of them.

Jeff busked for serveral years in the Rochester, NY area to cultivate his guitar playing abilities and spent some time as a solo acoustic performer. Jeff has also fronted several bands over the years performing originals and covers and has played throughout the western New York area with them.

Jeff’s influences include: Massive Attack, Air, Sonic Youth, The Smiths, Swervedriver, Wet Leg, The Chameleons UK, Pixies, Ólafur Arnalds, Nils Frahm, Bach, Ludovico Einaudi, Radiohead, Philip Glass, Portishead, The Killers, The Cure, New Order, Gus Gus, Zero 7, Dead Can Dance, PJ Harvey, Mission of Burma, Tycho, The Decemberists, Deftones, Death Cab for Cutie…and so much more!
